During his prolific career, which began in the late 1960s at the age of eleven, he recorded over 75 albums and was one of the major stars of lovers rock, a subgenre of reggae. Bob Marley cited Brown as his favorite singer, nicknaming him "The Crown Prince of Reggae," and Brown proved influential on future generations of reggae singers. In 2023, Rolling Stone ranked Brown at number 67 on its list of the 200 Greatest Singers of All Time.
