This compilation highlights rare dubs, roots tracks, and lovers rock from the legendary producer Dennis Bovell. A prolific and eclectic figure, Bovell has explored a vast range of styles: from dub poetry to lovers rock, as well as post-punk, disco, pop, and much more. He has collaborated with diverse artists such as The Slits, I Roy, Maximum Joy, Fela Kuti, The Pop Group, Janet Kay, Saada Bonaire, Orange Juice, Golden Teacher, and Steel Pulse. This collection focuses on the period when Bovell was involved with the Jah Sufferer Sound System, offering rare tracks and lesser-known versions, primarily from 1976 to 1980, including an exceptional and rarely heard dub of the iconic Silly Games. All tracks have been meticulously restored and remastered at Dubplates & Mastering in Berlin to deliver a dynamic and clear sound quality, immersing listeners in Bovell's talent for production and arrangement. The liner notes, derived from a lengthy conversation with Dennis, contain detailed memories for each track, enriched with biographical anecdotes. The vinyl and CD editions feature different artworks, each format showcasing a unique photo by Syd Shelton.
