Demon Head is proud to announce the release of 'Through Holes Shine the Stars' on Svart Records. The album is the fifth album of the band that celebrated its first 10 years of existence last year, and it is undoubtedly another significant milestone on its tireless - and very personal - journey through the wilderness. It is a well of deeper and darker tones and melodies than before, while being noticeably more extroverted than their recent releases. All in the seemingly simple, strangely catchy, and unique way that Demon Head has become known for. The eight songs were collectively written during several focused sessions from 2019 to 2022 and fully recorded by the band themselves from October 2022 to March 2023 in their own studios in Copenhagen and on the west coast of Ireland. Guitarist, singer, and multi-instrumentalist producer Birk Gjerlufsen Nielsen elaborates on the process: “This long and meticulous process allowed us to achieve a balance between structural precision and artistic expansion, melodic simplicity and compositional depth. It’s as if we discovered all the possibilities in each of these songs without losing track of the original nerve. In continuity with previous collaborations, Demon Head mixed the album with the legendary engineer and producer Flemming Rasmussen (Metallica, Morbid Angel, Ensiferum, etc.) at Sweet Silence Studios. Singer and sound engineer Marcus Ferreira Larsen notes: “Like any true master, Flemming created a direct, punchy, and transparent mix that only enhances what is already communicated in the compositions and performance. He helped us place everything in the landscape we sculpted by recording everything ourselves again. With a duration of 47 minutes, this is Demon Head's most complete work to date. Birk Gjerlufsen Nielsen comments on one of the songs: “The Chalice opens with a discordant hymn that quite incredibly combines the qualities of the late Scott Walker with the European film The Final Countdown. It’s a good introduction to how Marcus and I worked closely together to complement each other. It’s consistent that we sing together throughout the record. Between the two of us, there is an equal balance of raw charm and melodic despair.
