France has long been a fertile ground for black metal, and one of its best-kept secrets is Déluge, which has been offering a blend of this genre and post-hardcore since 2014. After a first long album aether in 2015, they return in 2020 with a second album aego Templo, more accessible, which pushes their sound in increasingly imaginative directions. "I wanted to go further into something more 'easy to listen to', but I didn't want to lose what we had, that melancholy and the essence of our music," says founding guitarist François-Thibaut Hordé. "It was a very interesting - and exhausting - challenge, and for me, we succeeded. We are really proud of this new record." Produced by François-Thibaut with the help of engineers Thibault Chaumont/Deviant Lab studio (Igorrr, Carpenter Brut, Birds in Row) - who also handled the mixing and mastering of the album - and Amaury Sauvé / The Apiary studio who recorded the drums, aego Templo marks a bold step forward compared to their previous production.
