Since the release of their first album in 1988, Deicide has always caused controversy around the world for its uncompromising lyrics and music. The band has been targeted by pro-Christian groups and animal rights activists, as well as pro-censorship groups. Deicide frontman Glen Benton branded an inverted cross onto his forehead as a statement of intent and was featured in the BBC2 documentary "Death Metal Murders," which was also the band's coverage in the BBC and UK National newspapers.
