Grind Over Matter

From the mid-90s until 2005, Swedish outfit Defleshed delivered a thrash, death metal and grindcore hybrid that established them as one of the most vital bands across all three genres. Lacking inspiration and wanting to try other things, they called it a day the same year their fifth album Reclaim The Beat was released, and ever since, fans have been crying out for their reunion. In 2021, they got what they asked for when the core of the band - guitarist Lars Löfven, drummer Matte Modin and bassist/vocalist Gustaf Jorde - reformed. "We just wanted to record a couple of songs to include them in a vinyl box set," Jorde explains. "The songs turned out good and the process was satisfying, so we decided to try and do a full length album." The result is the corrosive Grind Over Matter, 11 blistering songs in 34 minutes, proving not only that the band still have it, but they're playing at the very top of their game.
