Description
Directed and created by Katell Quillévéré and Hélier Cisterne (The Bureau), the series, co-produced by ARTE France and Les Films du Bélier, traces the genesis of the hip hop movement in France in the 1980s. The two directors entrusted Amine Bouhafa and DJ Dee Nasty with the original soundtrack for their series, each bringing their own style. The former succeeds in adding a real atmosphere to the series with modern compositions borrowing hip hop codes mixed with more traditional instrumentals. Dee Nasty, for his part, offers tracks that return to the very essence of 1980s-1990s hip hop, with effective loops boosted by prominent basslines. The two artists also collaborated on the series' opening credits, delivering a true instrumental bombshell. The album includes Dee Nasty's famous track "Panam City Rappin'". The soundtrack also features iconic American hip-hop tracks from the 80s, such as "Street Justice" by The Rake and "Proud to be Black" by Run DMC.
