The Acrobat

Description

Since the 2014 release of Philadelphia band Death of Lovers' acclaimed debut EP, *Buried Under a World of Roses*, many wondered if a full-length album would follow, especially given the extensive touring by Nothing, Domenic, Nick, and Kyle's other band. *The Acrobat* embodies Death of Lovers' new vision and direction. The first single, “The Absolute,” addresses themes of selfishness and greed. “Lowly People” is the band's response to PULP's “Common People,” viewed through the prism of their own childhoods: the streets of Kensington, Philadelphia, where shattered glass glistens like stars, and the summer air breeds a certain violence. Somehow, *The Acrobat* manages to create a warm familiarity while offering a completely new sound. Although their tracks would fit perfectly on the soundtrack of all your favorite 80s movies, the freshness and creativity of their writing redefine post-punk codes.
