Dead Cross is a metal band made up of Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle), Dave Lombardo (Slayer, Testament), Justin Pearson (The Locust, Retox), and Michael Crain (Retox). The subtle blend of thrash metal, punk, and hardcore in their music has garnered the band a large following since their 2017 debut. The album, which is both a noisy hardcore collection and, at times, a politically charged opus, is rooted in friendship, with the band coming together after Crain was diagnosed with cancer. "Words can’t begin to describe what this album means to me. It is born of pain and uncertainty," Crain explains. "The slow, excruciatingly painful, and nauseating recovery from cancer treatments was the catalyst for every riff and note of this album. However, my will to live and be with my brothers Justin, Dave, Mike, and co-producer Ross Robinson, got me out of bed and running to the studio every day to record."
