Markus Passion BWV 247 Coffret
Description
Created in Leipzig in March 1731 and then revised for Holy Week in 1744, based on a text by Christian Friedrich Henrici, known as Picander, the Passion according to Saint Mark was composed by Bach by reusing existing works. The autograph score is lost, but musicological research suggests that certain pieces, such as the Funeral Ode BWV 198 or an aria from the cantata BWV 54, were reused. Any interpretation of this work is therefore the result of a reconstruction effort by the performer.
