Écrit et réalisé par David Guez, l'album est le second et dernier volet, avec 'An Imperfect Harmony' paru en 2019, de deux albums concepts. 'The Price Of Illusion' manipulates reality, observes the world, and questions dreams and imagination in a contemplative and melancholic "pop art" scenario. L'album contient plusieurs collaborations, notamment avec l'arrangeur de cuivres new yorkais Michael Leonhart (Steely Dan, Mark Ronson), le saxophoniste français Adrien Soleiman (Juliette Armanet, Sébastien Tellier) et a été enregistré dans les mythiques studios du château d'Hérouville ainsi que le studio CBE à Paris. L'album a été mixé par le légendaire Bob Clearmountain (David Bowie, Roxy Music) et le new yorkais Patrick DilleI (Donald Fagen, St Vincent)."
