Brubeck Dave Quartet / Time Out

Description

Before venturing into jazz, Dave Brubeck had undertaken serious classical music studies in California, even attending Schoenberg's classes for a time. This no doubt explains the penchant of this pianist and composer, who was extremely popular in the late 1950s, for rather unusual musical explorations. This audacity, combined with a certain opportunism, culminates in this essential album where, leading a quartet with Paul Desmond, he delivers a handful of hits ("Take Five," "Blue Rondo A La Turk," etc.).
