Das Kapital is one of those solid groups that have been working for many years, developing a unique vocabulary in the process. This trio has become a must-see band on all jazz stages, playing at the most prestigious festivals in Europe and around the world. In Das Kapital, three thoroughbred individualists get to work. And they not only know how to bring their personal strengths to the game, but above all how to achieve collective subjectivity through individual effacement. After two albums dedicated to Hanns Eisler's songs and a Christmas CD with class consciousness, Das Kapital now presents pieces of their own making. A break? Not at all, since the strengths and particularities acquired on the previous albums are deepened in this new album. The title shows that they remain true to the color of their sound, but this music is also a departure towards new frontiers. The title Kind of Red obviously refers to Miles Davis not only through the simple wordplay on Kind of Blue, but also probably to evoke a certain clarity of the music defended here. Hanns Eisler's music remains one of their influences, even unconsciously; having played his compositions so much has, over time, given them the color of a perfume as indefinable as it is captivating! Das Kapital is a "win-win-win" group because these three musicians convincingly leverage their collective value within this formation. Kind Of Red is an album with a triple center of gravity, directly linked to the realities of life in the heart of Europe. A reality that is both yesterday and tomorrow. The morning is red!
