Late Symphonies, Vol. 5
Description
Joseph Haydn composed the three symphonies on this album, the fifth volume in the "Late Symphonies" series, in the mid-1780s, driven by a sense of triumph. Although still in the service of the Esterházy family, he had recently been allowed to publish his own music and accept outside commissions. A series of symphonies was then commissioned from him by a major new ensemble, recently founded in Paris. Despite superficial similarities, they reveal Haydn's inexhaustible creativity, whether in the introduction of astonishing colorful richness in Symphony No. 84, the rustic interludes of the trio in Symphony No. 85 — one of Marie Antoinette's favorites — or in the grandest of the Paris Symphonies, No. 86, where the transition between the slow introduction and the main body is unparalleled in his oeuvre.Adam Fischer and the Danish Chamber Orchestra are renowned for their recordings of classical music. Their interpretation of Haydn's symphonies is distinguished in particular by dynamic contrasts, great clarity, and an approach reminiscent of chamber music.Buy Late Symphonies, Vol. 5 at the best price
