Born in Panama and based in Chicago, drummer Daniel Villarreal is known for his work with groups such as Dos Santos, Wild Belle, The Los Sundowns, Valebol Rudy de Anda, and many others.For his debut solo album, Panama 77, he surrounds himself with friends and collaborators from all walks of life — including Bardo Martinez (Chicano Batman), Jeff Parker (Tortoise), Marta Sofia Honer (Adrian Younge), Anna Butterss (Jenny Lewis), and Aquiles Navarro (Irreversible Entanglements) — to create a vibrant and lush ensemble of multi-textured psychedelic instrumental folk-funk.
