Sonates pour violon & autres instruments

Description

Perfect mastery of counterpoint and simplicity of expression: Fontana, 17th century Italian violinist. Born in Brescia around 1571, Giovanni Battista Fontana lived in Venice, Rome, and Padua where he died during the plague epidemic of 1630. His music surprises us with the mastery of counterpoint, the simplicity and expression of slow movements, the complexity of ornamentation, or the elegant liveliness of dance passages. Nicknamed "Dal Violino" and described as one of the most fantastic violinists of his time, Fontana left us, in this work, an exceptional testimony of Baroque Instrumental at its origins.
