The first solo album from the talented songwriter of Anathema! Although at the peak of his career with his band Anathema, Daniel Cavanagh takes the time to present us with his first solo album under his own name. Recorded at Parr Street Studios by sound engineer Andrea Wright, the album was mastered by Daniel Cardoso of Anathema, and the cover art is the work of the sublime illustrator Danny Branscombe. Inspired by strong feelings of love and loss, Monochrome is the result of very personal and thoughtful work. The album has an atmosphere of a candlelit late evening, evoking the light at dusk when the summer sun disappears and blends into the horizon, leaving room for thoughts and meditation. Many tracks could have appeared on Anathema's last album or one of the upcoming ones. It was difficult to remove them from the band, but they were so personal that they didn't require further development. On "Monochrome," we find some well-known names: Anneke Van Giersbergen – former singer of Gathering who has since collaborated with Devin Townsend, Árstíðir, Anathema, and Arjen Lucassen – as well as the talented violinist Anna Phoebe on three tracks. In the end, this record is a new centerpiece of Kscope's rich collection.
