Brown sugar

Description

A brilliant trailblazer and creator of what would very quickly be called nu soul, D'Angelo is one of those rare artists to become cult figures from their very first album. Despite the modest success of Brown Sugar upon its release, connoisseurs quickly understood that the hip-hop soul landscape was changing. The prominence of the Fender Rhodes and the rimshots support a voice in the pure tradition of Marvin Gaye or Prince. The tracks Lady and Brown Sugar would very quickly establish themselves and propel this album to must-have status. Excerpt from the guide "La Discothèque idéale Fnac" 2016
