Where Future Unfolds

Description

Where Future Unfolds is a new work by visual and sound artist Damon Locks, based in Chicago. Initially, it was a solo sound collage (where Locks drew samples from speeches and recordings from the civil rights era to create an improvisational palette to play on his drum machine). Over four years, the project evolved into a 15-member ensemble, the Black Monument Ensemble, consisting of musicians (including Angel Bat Dawid on clarinet and Dana Hall on drums), singers (alumni of the Chicago Children's Choir), and dancers (members of the Chicago youth dance company Move Me Soul).
