Description

March 2023 in Tongobory, Madagascar: A mobile recording studio under a thatched shelter in the middle of zebus, goats, and sheep in a village in turmoil for the funeral ceremony of old Melo. The album « Fihisa » is the story of a live recording project during a traditional ceremony in the countryside that is hit by a cyclone, and everything then turns into an adventure: the soundtrack of a Malagasy celebration with a wild atmosphere despite the hardships and major unforeseen events.
Featuring Damily & Toliara Tsapiky band, a sound engineer, an ethnomusicologist and his camera, a production manager, an entire (very large) family, hundreds of guests, and Freddy, « the tropical cyclone of all records » as the party pooper: 8 days of recording sessions planned, reduced to 10 hours of live takes.
