Oeuvres pour violon et piano - Sonates 1 & 2 - Berceuse - Romance

Description

The final installment in the complete recording of Gabriel Fauré’s chamber music, this recording brings together his compositions for violin and piano. Eric Le Sage and Daishin Kashimoto - solo violinist of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra - offer a particularly convincing and moving reading of these intimate works, thanks to a close rapport honed through many concert collaborations. Gabriel Fauré was 30 when he began his First Sonata for violin, in the summer of 1875. It was four decades later that he composed his Second Sonata; by then he was director of the Paris Conservatoire. More than an anthology disc, this volume paints a portrait of a life, bearing witness to the change in civilization between the waning 19th century and the upheavals to come in the 20th century. This final volume brings to a close a benchmark complete edition, based on Eric Le Sage’s ability to bring together leading artists around him. This original approach was praised by the international press for his first complete edition, devoted to Schumann.
