It is Cutting Crew's destiny to be primarily known for its massive international hit sold in millions of copies, “(I Just) Died In Your Arms,” and it is here in two versions, but this box set shows that there is much more to the band. Their catchy pop-rock is defined by strong songwriting, the soulful voice of Nick Van Eede, and the lead guitar of Kevin MacMichael. The United States embraced Cutting Crew, and “(I Just) Died In Your Arms” reached the top of the Billboard chart, “I've Been In Love Before” peaked at number 9, and the album “Broadcast” reached number 16, achieving gold status. In the UK, “(I Just) Died In Your Arms” was a number 4 hit. The four singles from “Broadcast” are also presented in extended remixes originally released on 12-inch singles, including the highly regarded 12” mix of “(I Just) Died In Your Arms” and Arthur Baker's remix and dub of “Any Colour.” Cutting Crew's leader, Nick Van Eede, opened his archives to contribute five demos, including two unreleased tracks: “Open Up Your Window” and a cover of “Kites” by Simon Dupree And The Big Sound. Van Eede, who still leads Cutting Crew today, was recently interviewed for the box set booklet.
