Description

Sacrificio is the ninth studio album by CRIMINAL, a battering ram of twelve tracks that takes them back to their roots — both literally and metaphorically. With a rich history behind them, and an unwritten future ahead of them, CRIMINAL delivered Sacrificio, an album that could only have been made by these four musicians at that moment in time. While writing Sacrificio, Chile, CRIMINAL’s home country, experienced a social uprising that had an immeasurable impact on the lives of Chileans. Protests against corruption, inequality, and the low standard of living brought citizens into the streets to make themselves heard. Whether it was high school students coordinating campaigns against rising public transport prices, thousands of arrests, dozens of deaths, and reports of human rights violations, this social upheaval is a landmark in time for Chileans around the world. Civil action and vehement anger seeped into the creative process of the four members of CRIMINAL, three of whom are Chilean. Although there is a deep personal connection to the lyrical content, the events unfold from the perspective of a spectator who has also experienced tyrannical leadership and witnessed the divide between ordinary citizens and the social elite.
