Early electronic works : nommos, visiting

"Nommos" is an electronic work based on a fiction presented during an exhibition on the art of the Dogon people (a people from Mali) in New York in the 1970s. The Dogon are renowned for their cosmogony and their sculptures inspired by the religious beliefs they received from extraterrestrial visitors, among whom are the Nommos, half-man half-fish spirits from Sirius. As one can understand, the work presented in this record is extraordinary. Composed in 1979 by the prolific American producer CraigLeon (Ramones, Blondie, Joshua Bell, Luciano Pavarotti...), Nommos does not aim to be anthropological, but a musical extrapolation of what the music brought by the Nommos from their planet could have been. The wild synthesizers in techno, punk, and new age colors are likely to blow the minds of travelers who board this sound UFO.
