Hair In My Eyes Like A Highland Steer, a fan favorite in Corb's catalog featuring legends Ian Tyson and Ramblin' Jack Elliot, will finally receive a wide vinyl release for the first time since its release in 2005. The title track, based on Corb's childhood memories of his grandfather's "eyeless cows," opens the album with the signature punchy swing of his band. Saturated with family history, true stories, and nods to the Wild West, this record is filled with quintessential Corb Lund tracks. "This album was our biggest commercial success and really stoked the flames of our torrid and short-lived relationship with country radio and CMT. We recorded it in Tennessee and it's full of fiddles and country piano. 'Truck Got Stuck' was a big moment for us and is still a crowd favorite. Hair In My Eyes introduced Brady Valgardson on drums and Grant Siemens on guitar, both long-time members of the band. We still play a ton of these songs live as the heart of our shows... I don't focus as much on love songs as many songwriters do," Lund says, "And I find it more interesting to write songs about what my brain is engaged with at any given moment. It can be ranch stuff, card games, home renovations, lighting campfires, or books about 1970s politics. It all goes into the cauldron. I spent a lot of time playing cards for semi-serious money during that period, so there's a bit of that going on."
