Handel Edition

Description

Here is the most complete Handel edition available on the market! Brilliant Classics continues its renowned “Composer Edition” series with one of the giants of the Baroque era, George Frideric Handel, the famous German composer who settled in London. Having absorbed the German and Italian styles of his time, he created his own distinctive musical language, which, while following the fashions of his era and the preferences of the audience, retained its own deep humanity and very personal inner power. Handel embraced all the musical genres of his time, and this edition, though incomplete, presents a considerable number of highly representative works: 12 oratorios, cantatas, Odes, hymns, Arias, Duos, the complete chamber music, the complete keyboard works, the complete organ concertos, oboe concertos, the complete Concerti Grossi, Water Music and Fireworks Music: a musical feast of grandeur and intimacy, joy and sorrow, splendor and grace, instrumental and vocal brilliance, and all the emotions a human being is capable of feeling. This edition offers excellent performances by great ensembles, soloists and choirs such as Concerto Köln, Neues Bachisches Collegium Musicum, the English Chamber Orchestra, the King's College Choir, the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, as well as Alfred Deller, Arleen Auger, and many others. An excellent gift idea, this version represents exceptional value for hours of listening pleasure at an attractive price!
