In 2024, Anton Bruckner would have turned 200 years old. Instead of promoting the 100th release of the Bruckner Year with flowery but ultimately powerless advertising slogans, we want to stimulate reflection on the production processes in classical music with a special release. What is the essence of a recording? The 7th Symphony by Anton Bruckner twice in its entirety, each on a CD. One is a live recording (Uncut), and the other is a produced and edited version (Cut), both recorded under identical conditions. This means your judgment will not be influenced by different circumstances during the recordings. Compare! We are very pleased that András Keller and Concerto Budapest, with whom we have had a fruitful collaboration for many years (this is already the 8th recording), have agreed to make this project possible! Moreover, this juxtaposition is only possible thanks to an intensive dialogue after the recordings. András Keller is part of an unbroken European tradition that dates back to the last century, perhaps even to Anton Bruckner. The way the strings play, the sensual melodic lines of all the instruments, the vocal quality even in the furious passages are touching and old-fashioned yet possess a timeless modernity. And the monumental arcs and crescendos of Anton Bruckner's music are tailor-made to address the question every listener asks: What do I expect from a recording? What moves me the most, live or produced, cut or uncut?
