Description

Based on the principles of instrumental arrangement, variations, and improvisation (if applicable to baroque music) and using some of the most popular melodies from the 17th and 18th centuries, the ensemble Concerto 1700 constructs a journey through the dances and songs of ancient Spain, immersing the audience in a baroque celebration where the complex rhythms of jácaras, fandangos, canarios, or follias alternate with the sweet and noble harmonies of españoletas and pasacalles. From another perspective, the CD addresses the commonalities between baroque music and jazz in this unique jam session dedicated to some of the most representative dances of Spain over the centuries, which have been used by composers from across the continent and throughout time.
