Already noticed by Les Inrockuptibles, Libération, France Inter, and FIP, Côme Ranjard is capable of connecting Philippe Katerine and Haruomi Hosono, Mac Demarco and Caetano Veloso, Andy Shauf and Bertrand Belin within the same track. In short, he can marry the most immediate pop with the most sophisticated arrangements. As much a composer as a music producer behind his console, the 30-year-old musician achieves the feat of referencing many great artists without ever sounding like anyone else. His very first album, Pop-Corn, will be released on January 17, 2025. In it, Côme Ranjard creates atmospheres that are at times intimate and at others extroverted, where his clear and expressive voice takes center stage. Finely arranged between Jazz, Chillout, and Electronica, his 11 songs break away from the beaten path of French chanson. Drawing inspiration from the 70s, 80s, and 90s, and without the listener being able to pinpoint where they are, the album sounds like the renewal of a genre that seemed insurmountable, both contemporary and classic at the same time.
