Wewantsounds is pleased to announce the release of Touch, a selection of iconic tracks produced by Yuji Ohno, the legendary Japanese producer, blending jazz, space funk, and disco, and favored by DJs around the world. The selection, infused with the producer's unique sound, includes Nanako Sato, Hatsumi Shibata, and Ken Tanaka, as well as tracks from the cult anime soundtracks Lupin III and Captain Future. Touch has been remastered by Nippon Columbia and features liner notes by Nick Luscombe in conversation with Yuji Ohno. In the late 1960s, Yuji Ohno began to move away from the jazz scene and redirected his focus towards film and television, as well as producing artists for the most prestigious Japanese labels, becoming one of the most sought-after composers, arrangers, and producers in Tokyo. He achieved enormous success with his soundtracks for animated films, particularly for the Lupin III series – from which the very funky "Silhouette" is taken. Whether it's jazz, funk, disco, or pop, Ohno's sound is instantly recognizable, both in his melodies that are sophisticated yet accessible, and in his arrangements characterized by a great sense of space. In this regard, he stands alongside legends such as Quincy Jones and Michel Legrand.
