At the beginning of 1975, dub had become an integral part of the Jamaican musical landscape, with most 7-inch singles now featuring a hard and heavy mix of the vocal or instrumental track that appeared on the A-side. Yet, despite all its popularity, relatively few long-time players presenting the genre had, until that time, seen the issue.
"Dubbing With The Observer" was one of the very first dub albums to achieve commercial success on both sides of the Atlantic. Produced by Winston 'Niney' Holness and mixed by pioneering sound engineer and dub master, Osbourne Ruddock AKA King Tubby, the collection included killer mixes of tracks previously popularized by Dennis Brown, Ken Boothe, Delroy Wilson, and Sang Hugh.
This landmark album finally receives the deluxe treatment with its 13 tracks enhanced by other dub masterpieces from Niney's prestigious Observer catalog, all of which were released between 1974 and 1976, when the genre was at the height of its popularity and inventiveness.
With 22 new tracks on CD, the collection is an essential acquisition for fans of classic dub, performed, mixed, and produced by some of the greatest Jamaican music creators at the peak of their creative powers.
