The latest installment of the 'That'll Flat Git It!' series from Bear Family Records® reviews the fascinating catalog of UA's early rock and roll, which is filled with promising singers who recorded only one or two splendid singles for the label (Chuck Wiley, Ronnie Brent, Warren Miller, Wes Bryan, Hunt Stevens, Brein Fisher, Wendell Smith, The Four J's) before moving on, as well as a handful of more well-known names (Al Casey, George Jones, Delbert McClinton's Straitjackets) for good measure. Lee Hazlewood and his partner at the time, Lester Sill, produced a handful of late 50s rockers for UA, and this essential collection even contains flavors of Chicago R&B (Superman by Joyce Davis) and atmospheric Gulf Coast pop (Sometime by Gene Thomas).
