I See You Live On Love Street : Music From Laurel Canyon 1967-1975 Coffret

Description

Anthology of four hours and 72 tracks from the musical community of Laurel Canyon, which became a dominant global force in the late 60s and early 70s.
Tracing the evolution of the scene from The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, Love, and The Doors to the beginnings of country-rock and the boom of singer-songwriters who defined the early 70s.
By the end of the 60s, the link between the world of international music had shifted from hot spots like Liverpool, London, and San Francisco to Laurel Canyon, a rural oasis amid the hustle of Los Angeles.
Just minutes from Hollywood, the Sunset Strip, and Los Angeles record labels/studios, Laurel Canyon became home to a hybrid of folk, country, rock, and pop that encompassed everyone from the early musicians The Byrds and Buffalo Springfield to The Doors, Frank Zappa, Glen Campbell, and created the pop pillars The Monkees.
The rustic charms of the canyon and the proximity to major folk hangouts like the Troubadour attracted a phalanx of singer-songwriters while giving birth to the country-rock movement, launched by various Byrds/Springfield spin-offs (Dillard & Clark, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Poco) and former teen idol Ricky Nelson.
Very incestuous, the Laurel Canyon family included unlikely bedfellows: the Monkees worked with Frank Zappa, the Turtles sponsored Judee Sill and spent time with the Doors, Kim Fowley collaborated with Steppenwolf and Warren Zevon, and individual members of CSNY appeared on each other's solo records as well as those of everyone else.
Following the acclaimed 2022 compilation from Grapefruit, "Heroes & Villains: The Sound of Los Angeles 1965-1968," the meticulously assembled "I See You Live On Love Street: Music From Laurel Canyon 1967-1975" traces the birth and emergence of the scene gradually until a revitalized and relocated Fleetwood Mac becomes the spearhead of a new, more polished Laurel Canyon sound that becomes stratospheric by the mid-70s.
Presented in a clamshell box that includes a heavily annotated and illustrated 48-page booklet, "I See You Live On Love Street" features several of the biggest names from the canyon community alongside artists who failed to find success at the time but went on to achieve cult status.
