What is more fascinating than the play of shadow and light? To allow oneself to descend into this part of sensual melancholy, daring fragility and revealing oneself in its depth and inner nuances... For me, one way to illustrate this sensitive complexity is to draw a parallel between two musical and pictorial poles: French Impressionism and German Expressionism. For a long time, I have been fascinated by these two movements, both in terms of sound and pictorial colors, as well as their extreme refinement and the details of their compositions. All these painters, composers, and composeresses have brilliantly illustrated the depths of the soul in their own way. This musical program, rooted in modern music (1899-1914), aims to be a bridge between Expressionism and Impressionism. A parallel that does not seek to illustrate the differences but rather to highlight the commonalities, revealing the voluptuous and almost decadent sensuality of these two movements, which are so contrasting both geographically and stylistically.
