Back to 1992: the six members of Ceux Qui Marchent Debout reunite around a shared passion for the Between humor and nostalgia, Coffees & Cigarettes’ new album offers us a hop’n’roll more fully embraced than ever, a truly original cocktail of hip-hop and rock’n’roll that needs a good shake before being consumed! Coffees & Cigarettes is a strings-and-voice duo imagined by Renaud Druel aka MC Jesse (writer, composer and performer). He is accompanied by Anna Swieton’s violin, Lyllou Chevalier’s viola or Quentin Gendrot’s cello for an original blend of French chanson, rock and hip hop. While he used characters on his other albums, Renaud Druel offers us, with this new opus, introspective and cathartic lyrics. A record decidedly more hip hop and French chanson than the previous ones, but still with a very cinema- and pop culture-inspired aesthetic, "Roller Coaster" is a skilful balance between acoustic and electronic. The result? Enchanting and swirling to the rhythm of the many strings, this time omnipresent on the album. The album travels through a multitude of feelings and emotions through songs that are decidedly more personal and autobiographical. Coffees & Cigarettes offers us an album where humor, nostalgia and sorrow intertwine. On stage, expect a subtle blend of sound and image, of human and machine, a carefully orchestrated theatrical tangle of catchy music and swirling visuals to immerse the audience in a rich universe worthy of a true amusement park!
