Horror master John Carpenter is back with his collaborators from the Halloween franchise, Daniel Davies and Cody Carpenter, for a new engaging soundtrack: that of the 2022 adaptation of Stephen King's Firestarter. This is the first official soundtrack that the team has composed together outside of the Halloween franchise, and their inspiration and evolution as a creative team are fully felt. The film is a reimagining of the thriller that tells the story of a girl with extraordinary pyrokinesis powers and her struggle to protect her family and herself from sinister forces seeking to capture and control her. The film, released in May 2022, was directed by Keith Thomas (The Vigil) and produced by the creators of The Invisible Man. The story has become a classic, and the intense nature of the film creates an ideal canvas for a dynamic score. The Firestarter soundtrack utilizes some of the best elements from Carpenter's renowned musical repertoire while exploring exciting new territories. The tracks range from electrifying sci-fi classics to slow, reverb-laden piano ballads, each employing a variety of sound applications.
