Led by the romantic duo Peter Kingsberry and Ana LaCazio, Cock Robin formed in Los Angeles in the early 80s. Like some of their competitors flying the flag for FM music, from Til Tuesday to Motels, the band plays a pop sound slightly tinged with rock. In five years and three albums, Cock Robin developed a real melodic know-how enhanced by the vocal harmonies of Kingsberry and LaCazio. Initially drawn to the arty side of Roxy Music and the disco funk of Chic, the two partners recorded with the talented Steve Hillage. The single taken from this first effort, "The Promise You Made," would earn them a certain renown in Europe, which would be reinforced by the sophisticated songs of After Here, Through Midlands, despite a few lineup changes. In 1989, Peter Kingsberry and Ana LaCazio split around the Latin choruses dressed in Mariachi brass of the third album First Love/Last Rites. A Best Of now sums up the career rich in popular hits of Cock Robin. An unreleased version of Bob Dylan's "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright," a few B-sides and other demos reveal its full diversity.
