Since the success of his album "Give & Take" in 2004, Clinton Fearon has continued to pursue his solo career. There has been a lot of news for him lately, as a Live DVD (Live At Reggae Bash 2004) emerged from his 2004 tour, and he has just released the album that all his fans were waiting for: an acoustic album. This is how "Mi An’ Mi Guitar" came to be. Clinton Fearon explains it well; it was under the pressure of those around him that this album was recorded. After doing small acoustic sessions for his close ones, the idea sprouted to put these versions on an album. While one might have expected a sort of Best Of from the former Gladiator, Clinton Fearon surprises us with a majority of completely new tracks. At 55, he truly seems to be at the peak of his art. As the title suggests, Clinton Fearon is here alone with his six-string acoustic guitar. From this very intimate opus emerges an authentic vibe of sharing, spirituality, and love. Clinton Fearon's voice carries an evident sensitivity that transcends his songs. Upon reading the tracklisting, we felt a certain disappointment upon realizing that most of the tracks were previously unknown. However, the more we listen to these new compositions, the more we love them, like "Bless Your Heart," which opens the album, "Love Is In The Air," or "One More River." Clinton Fearon does not just sing his songs as he would around a campfire; there is a real vocal arrangement work as he himself provides harmonies in two or, more often, three voices. Recorded at home in his studios in Seattle, this "Mi An’ Mi Guitar" is simply remarkable and fits perfectly into Clinton Fearon's discography. It's a shame that the artwork (created by Barbara Kennedy, keyboardist of the Boogie Brown Band) does not match the musical content (a detail). This album can easily be considered a culmination in the career of this exceptional artist, who has here distilled his music to its essence.
