L'Engoulevent

Description

Clément Vercelletto is a French experimental musician. He performs as Sarah Terral when he is alone on modular synthesizers, with Ernest Bergez in the duo Kaumwald, or as part of the voodoo dub funk trio Orgue Agnès. For this project, he called upon a luthier, Léo Maurel, to create a unique instrument: the Engoulevent. Named after a nocturnal bird, this small portable organ, whose flutes are sometimes replaced by bird calls, is composed of 24 outputs, each equipped with a solenoid valve controlled by voltage via a MIDI interface. The instrument was first conceived around the idea of a soundscape, an invented, fantasized landscape. The instrument plays the nature and music of a fictional space-time.
