Here is an important work by J.A. Hasse, a "Serenade for 3" dated 1725, the composer being 26 years old. He is then Master of Chapel in Dresden, but his work is given its world premiere in Naples; there he achieves a historic triumph thanks to the extraordinary presence of Farinelli. This propels him to the forefront of the musical scene in Europe and makes him a major composer of his time. We are pleased to find Vivica Genaux in the role of Marc'Antoine, and it is Francesca Lombardi Mazzuli who sings Cleopatra. Conductor Claudio Osele founded his ensemble "Musiche Nove" in 2001 and has specialized in the music of the 17th and 18th centuries. The conductor and the musicians are now among the best specialists in Europe in these repertoires.
