The more we explore jazz music, the more Duke Ellington's compositions and orchestrations appear to be of evident and unique originality and strength. To capture the essence while maintaining the specific sound palette of this orchestra, Claude Tissendier has chosen a reduced format including a female voice, two saxophones (alto and baritone), as well as clarinet and bass clarinet, supported by a double bass and drums. Whether in the raw simplicity of the Blues or the most elaborate sophistication (Billy Strayhorn), the renewed arrangements, the variety of atmospheres, and the fervor of inspiration convey the emotions and richness of this timeless music.
