Description

Le Trio Aglica brings together three musicians with distinct musical backgrounds: flutist Carys Gittins, violist Agnieszka Zyniewicz, and harpist Lise Vandersmissen. Formed in 2017 at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, the trio has since performed numerous times in the UK and Europe. In January 2024, the Trio Aglica won the Belgian Chamber Music Competition Supernova. This victory allowed them to undertake a concert tour in Belgium and give a live recital at BOZAR in Brussels: the concert featured on this album. Drawing from their Welsh, Polish, and Belgian influences, the trio explores both lesser-known composers from different eras and the classical repertoire for flute, viola, and harp.
A central aspect of their artistic vision is the enrichment of the trio's repertoire through the commissioning of new works and close collaboration with composers throughout the creation process. In 2025, the Trio Aglica was selected for a series of concerts as part of the 60th International Music Festival of Wratislavia, with a final concert at the National Forum of Music in Wroclaw (Poland). Sofar Sounds artists, the Trio Aglica has performed in intimate and atypical venues across London. In the summer of 2026, they will perform their newly commissioned compositions at the World Harp Congress in Toronto, Canada. Through their performances, the trio aims to create a direct and deep connection with the audience.
