A trumpeter and a pioneer in the use of the flugelhorn in jazz, Clark Terry participated in over 900 recordings during a career spanning eight decades. In 1958, "In Orbit" saw him collaborate with Thelonious Monk, who contributed a unique composition, "Let’s Cool One," and made a rare appearance as a sideman on the Riverside label for the occasion, alongside Sam Jones (double bass) and Philly Joe Jones on drums.
