The Art of Surrender is an unrestrained melodic delight that rises above an unrelenting drumbeat, expressing a need to move, to dance, to love. Christopher Tignor, an American composer and violinist, plays with scales, creating multi-movement epics and one-minute miniatures. The smallest and most fragile movements of the violin, where the finger barely brushes the string to extract natural harmonics, coexist with angular and exotic melodies, asymmetrical rhythms, and fast-paced string crossings. On this album, Christopher delves even deeper into the violin and its technicolor reimaginings under electroacoustic treatments using synthesizers. As a composer, he has written and recorded works for ensembles such as The Knights, the orchestra A Far Cry, and the string quartet Brooklyn Rider. As an arranger, he has worked with Helios, Jefre Cantu-Ledesma, John Congleton, This Will Destroy You, Meshell Ndegeocello, and several other artists at the edges of popular music.
