East River Blues
Description
An immense guitarist and singer with a warm, gritty voice, New Yorker Chris Bergson is known today for his unique music, a combination of Blues, Soul, Funk, and Jazz. This versatile musician has a monstrous talent both on guitar and vocals, as well as in songwriting and lyrics. The All Music Guide describes him as one of the most creative songwriters in contemporary Blues. Chris has played with and accompanied many artists around the world: Hubert Sumlin, Levon Helm, John Hammond, Little Sammy Davis, Norah Jones, Annie Ross, and Al Foster. East River Blues, Chris Bergson's new album, is a reflection on his 30 years of musical career in New York and pays tribute to his greatest blues and jazz influences, including Muddy Waters, Ray Charles, as well as the iconic figures of the Blue Note label's golden age in the 60s, such as Grant Green, Lou Donaldson, and Herbie Hancock. On this album, Bergson performs in a trio with renowned bassist Larry Grenadier (John Scofield), virtuoso drummer Herlin Riley (Dr. Lonnie Smith), and, on three tracks, in a quartet with his long-time collaborator, saxophonist Jay Collins (Gregg Allman).Buy East River Blues at the best price
