Chouk Bwa & The Ångströmers is the meeting, initiated in 2016, between the Haitian vodou group Chouk Bwa and the duo of electronic music producers The Ångströmers. The music of Chouk Bwa combines the characteristic elements of Vodou: rhythms, dances, and chants. These are the roots, torn from Africa, then secretly replanted in a new land. While Chouk Bwa stands out for its deep attachment to the roots of vodou culture, linked to Africa through a tragic History, expressing its art through drums as the only support for voices, it can be said that the artistic proposal of the Ångströmers coming from the world of underground electronic music competes in radicality.
The sound that emerges from the meeting is a search for detail, where electronics are seen as the translation of the presence of spirits. It is unheard of.
