Violin Concerto 5 - Symphony 29

Between 1790 and 1800, Janiewicz composed five concertos for violin. CLASSICAL It is worth noting that this was a period when the genre was still in full development. Previous composers were much more interested in concertos for keyboard instruments, and the violin accompanied by an orchestral ensemble only truly gained popularity during the last two decades of the 18th century, with the works of what is called the French school of violin, of which the reference was the work of Giovanni Battista Viotti. It is based on Viotti's works that the three-movement form of the violin concerto was adopted (and this model was observed with much more rigor than in the case of keyboard concertos, which composers sometimes reduced to two movements or extended to four), following the fast-slow-fast scheme. The Fifth Concerto concludes Janiewicz's work for violin and orchestra — and this is very regrettable, as, venturing ever more boldly beyond classical constraints, the composer clearly moves towards the new romantic era, as exquisitely revealed by the interpretation of Chouchane Siranos sian and the Orchestra {oh!}. It is undeniable that we have here a true gem, wisely unearthed from the ocean of forgotten 19th-century Polish music.
