Gregorian chant and organ by the Gregorian choir of Paris (women's choir). The Resurrection is the central point of Christianity; Easter is the climax of the liturgical year but also of the Gregorian year, featuring some of the oldest, most beautiful, and most representative chants of the entire medieval creation: "the Office of Easter as a mirror of Gregorian chant," wrote Olivier Cullin. It is around this music, "the most vibrant, the most original, the most joyfully free of religious works," as described by Olivier Messiaen, that the project of this record is built, uniting the organ, Gregorian chant, and contemporary polyphony in a timeless and modern Easter office. From one end of the 20th century to the other, the impressionistic nuances of L'Orgue mystique by Charles Tournemire and the equal-voiced pieces by Henrik Ødegaard draw inspiration from Gregorian chants to reconnect, a millennium later, with their serene joy.
