The man behind chien noir is named JEAN GRILLET and takes his name from a pirate in Stevenson’s Treasure Island, a reminder of the time when he devoured adventure novels. His life has not always been as sweet as his music. A few hints are dropped here and there in his titles. A multi-instrumentalist trained at the conservatory, signed by the label naïve and by the tour promoter Caramba, selected for the Chantier des Francos and then by the FAIR, chien noir has not been idle during these strange years of 2020/2021. His first EP, released in May 2021 (co-produced with the leader of COCOON), places his first tracks in numerous playlists and allows him to be selected by AMAZON as the revelation of the year. The flagship track "Histoire vraie" is chosen by GÉRALDINE NAKACHE for the new La Redoute campaign. In the meantime, JEAN GRILLET writes for others, including the song "Vague à l’âme sœur" with BERTRAND BELIN for VANESSA PARADIS or "Give me something" for HOLLYSIZ. The next chapter is written with his nomination for the Victoires de la Musique 2022 in the male revelation category. His second EP will be released in Spring 2022, accompanied by a series of dates, including April 18 at La Boule Noire.
