The quintet offers a true fusion of 60s Peruvian Chicha, 70s Progressive Rock, Afro-Peruvian music like Lando and Festejo, and beautiful Andean melodies. Sometimes blending Dominican Merengue with Amazonian rhythms, flirting with Salsa through the Saya, while always adding a touch of Rock and Cumbia, the cocktail is explosive, baroque, and surprising. - - Chicharron is part of a movement to revalue Chicha and Cumbia that began in the early 2000s with groups like Chicha Libre, Chico Trujillo, and Juana Fé, drawing inspiration from their sound experiments around Andean, Afro-descendant, and Amazonian folklores. - - The sounds are modern and rely on the powerful timbres of the drums, electric guitar, and Fender Rhodes bass. On this solid foundation, the vintage textures of analog organs, the dance of Latin percussion, and the depth of traditional instruments (cajón, charango, zampoña, kenas, quijada, etc.) are added. To top it all off, the cheerful harmonies of the musicians strongly support the passionate and unique voices of the two main singers, Hiram Muñoz and Antonin Cognet.
